Samsung is launching “Temporary Cloud Backup” for Galaxy devices with One UI 6, enabling users to store and transfer an unlimited number of photos, videos, and data at no cost for a 30-day period. Similarly, Apple provides temporary iCloud storage for new iPhones and iPads, offering a 21-day window that can be extended.

What will be its functioning?

Offering a free data storage solution for customers during resets or device transfers, coupled with a 30-day retrieval period, is expected to streamline the process and ease concerns.

Samsung will empower users to conveniently restore their data at their own pace, not confined to the initial device setup. Users can upload multiple files to the Samsung Cloud via their Samsung account, with each file not exceeding 100GB in size. Data restoration and transfer are limited to Wi-Fi within a 30-day window, after which Samsung will erase the data. However, the company will send users a warning notification a few days before commencing the deletion process.

What does Maintenance Mode entail?

Introduced in the previous year, Maintenance Mode is a privacy feature that allows users to limit data access during device repairs. Samsung has confirmed that the Temporary Cloud Backup will be integrated with Maintenance Mode, thereby enhancing data security for users.
