Google Bard now has a ChatGPT-like response delay feature.
2 min readGoogle Bard is getting an update, offering real-time responses. This AI chatbot aims to create the illusion of quicker reply times, a feature already present in ChatGPT. Large language models (LLMs) might not offer instant responses, likely due to background processes, causing a delay in input and output. Google is introducing two approaches for users to get answers from Bard.
How to enable the response delay feature.
Go to the upper-right corner in Open Bard and access settings. In the settings menu, users can choose between two options: “Respond once complete” or “Respond in real time.”
If “Respond in real time” is chosen, Bard will generate the response line by line. Although there may be a brief wait initially, once Bard starts composing the response, users can read it as it appears in the answer box.
This option allows users to use the “Skip response” button above the text field if they find the response unsatisfactory, pausing Bard’s response to refine the query for the desired outcome. It’s important to note that this will be Bard’s default setting.
In “Respond once complete” mode, Bard will show a sparkling star, and once the response is generated, it will appear in the response box.
Additional features in Bard
Last week, Bard saw two notable upgrades. The Workspace Extension enables Bard to summarize a greater volume of emails concurrently. Additionally, Google reports improved comprehension of requests for recent emails.
The second enhancement introduces support for uploaded images in shared conversations. Bard now offers enhanced visual results, incorporating photos. If a conversation shared includes an image in the prompt, the image will now be visible.
