Samsung’s Game Launcher undergoes a name change, with the possibility of introducing new features.

Samsung has rolled out One UI 6.0 for users of the Galaxy S23 series, transitioning from the Android 14 beta program. The update brings forth numerous alterations, such as a fresh One UI typeface and updates to the names of several first-party apps. Notably, on devices running the One UI 6.0 update, the Samsung Game Launcher has been rebranded as “Gaming Hub.”

The company provides clarification, stating, “Starting from Android OS version 14, the service will be known as Gaming Hub, and updates will be gradually extended to previous OS versions. It’s important to note that in certain menus, ‘Game Launcher’ and ‘Gaming Hub’ may be used interchangeably depending on the OS version.”

Samsung might have alternative intentions for the application

Users should refrain from confusing the mobile app with Samsung’s cloud-based gaming platform, available on select smart TVs and The Freestyle 2nd edition portable projector. This television platform is accessible in specific regions and enables game synchronization.

Currently, the Gaming Hub mobile app functions solely as a game launcher and does not include any titles or cloud gaming capabilities. However, it’s important to recognize that Samsung may be considering broadening the functionality of the Gaming Hub beyond a simple launcher app. According to a report by Sammobile, the company has expressed its intentions to gradually introduce “various features over time” to the mobile app.

The Gaming Hub aims to transform into a gaming platform that not only automatically organizes installed games and provides various convenient features but also delivers a more diverse gaming experience, according to the company’s statement.

The report emphasizes that Samsung did not provide details about the specific games that will be integrated into the app or whether it will include cloud gaming capabilities. It’s important to mention that, in One UI 6.0, the Gaming Hub app has undergone no other changes and maintains a similar appearance to its previous version.
