Details on the Exynos 1480 chip powering Samsung Galaxy A55

Amidst a flurry of launches, Samsung has recently unveiled the Galaxy A15 series and Galaxy A25, while gearing up for the highly anticipated debut of the Galaxy S24 series in January. Simultaneously, the imminent launch of the Galaxy A55, succeeding the Galaxy A54, is on the horizon. The Samsung Galaxy A55 is anticipated to bring forth design and feature improvements over its predecessor.

Recent reports have unveiled information about the chipset powering the Galaxy A55. According to the details, the device is set to run on a fresh Exynos 1480 chipset, expected to provide superior multi-core performance in comparison to the Exynos 1380 found in the Galaxy A54.

Furthermore, the chipset has been spotted in a Geekbench listing, revealing a single-core test score of 1180 points and a multi-core test score of 3536 points. Contrasting with the Exynos 1380’s 1,108 points and 2,797 points, the new chip appears to offer improved performance.

Details on the Exynos 1480 Chipset: A Summary

According to a previous report, the Samsung Exynos 1480 chip boasts four high-performance CPU cores clocked at 2.75GHz and four power-efficient cores running at 2.05GHz. It is also expected to incorporate the RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU.

With an anticipated performance surpassing the Mali GPU in the Exynos 1380, details about the GPU accompanying the Exynos 1480 are currently undisclosed. Additional information is expected to be unveiled when Samsung officially introduces the chip.

Other functionalities of the phone include compatibility with a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Furthermore, expectations include the phone being rated as IP68 water and dust-resistant.
