2 min readSony is said to be developing an enhanced PlayStation 5 controller, expected to launch globally soon. Anticipated Features of Sony’s DualSense V2 Controller
In addition to the significant battery improvement, the recently listed Sony V2 DualSense wireless controller maintains a striking resemblance to its forerunner. The report further asserts that the forthcoming controller includes a headset jack, integrated microphone, and haptic triggers on both its rear and face.
The controller is priced at 90 CAD (approximately $67), aligning closely with the previous V2 DualSense wireless controller model launched at a $69 retail price. According to the report, the 12-hour model is currently displayed on the website but is not actively purchasable, leaving uncertainty about Sony’s release date for the upgraded controller.
Sony submitted a patent in November 2023 outlining a new controller featuring a touchscreen instead of a touchpad. The patented controller also has the capability to utilize predictive AI assistance, illuminating specific buttons, analogue sticks, and shoulder triggers based on diverse gameplay situations.
The existing DualSense controller, launched alongside the PlayStation 5 in late 2020, introduced several significant enhancements compared to its predecessor, the DualShock 4, which debuted with the PS4.
In addition to swapping out the microUSB port for a USB-C one, the current-generation controller brought in features like haptic feedback support and adaptive triggers, distinguishing it from the DualShock 4.
