In the latter part of the first quarter, OpenAI plans to launch a GPT builder revenue program, allowing builders to generate income based on the utilization of their Custom GPTs. The program will initially roll out in the United States and is expected to expand to additional regions in the following months. Prerequisites:
Before embarking on the GPT creation process, ensure that you have the following:
- OpenAI Account: Verify that you have an active OpenAI account. If not, sign up at openai.com.
- Plus or Enterprise Plan: Access to GPT customization is exclusive to Plus and Enterprise users. If you are not subscribed to one of these plans, upgrade your account accordingly.
- Navigate to chat.openai.com/gpts/editor or click on your name and choose “My GPTs” to commence the process of crafting your personalized GPT.
Within the Create tab, engage with the GPT Builder by furnishing instructions. For instance, you might say, “Develop a creative assistant capable of generating visuals for new products” or “Fashion a software engineer to aid in code formatting.”
Proceed to the Configure tab to establish the name and description of your GPT. This is also where you can specify the actions you want your GPT to execute, such as web browsing or image creation.
Once content with your GPT, click “Publish.” You have the option to share your creation with others, opening up possibilities for collaborative AI experiences.

Furthermore, you have the option to incorporate third-party APIs by supplying endpoint details, parameters, and usage descriptions. If you’ve previously developed a plugin, you can also import actions from an OpenAPI schema.
