Microsoft Copilot is receiving numerous new features and a revamped interface for both its mobile app and web version. The tech company is also introducing several new carousels that provide suggestions for using the AI-powered chatbot.
In a blog post, Yusuf Mehdi, the company’s chief marketing officer, stated that the updated Copilot app for Android and iOS now boasts a more streamlined appearance and user experience. The newly added carousels appear just above the text, voice, and image bar, showcasing new ideas each time you access the app.
As Copilot celebrates its first anniversary, Mehdi revealed that the AI-powered chatbot has facilitated ‘over 5 billion chats and 5 billion images’, contributing to the steady growth of Edge and Bing.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jordi Ribas, Microsoft’s Head of Engineering and Product for Copilot and Bing, mentioned that Copilot’s ‘Balanced’ mode now utilizes a refined model called Deucalion, enhancing the overall experience with increased richness and speed.
Regarding the new features, Designer for Copilot, powered by DALL-E 3, can now do more than just generate images—it can also assist in editing them. Users can now emphasize an object to enhance its appearance, apply background blur, and even alter the art style to options like pixel art. For Copilot Pro subscribers, the tech giant has introduced the capability to resize and regenerate images for square and landscape modes directly within the chat interface, eliminating the need to switch applications.
The image editing features are currently accessible to English speakers residing in Australia, India, New Zealand, the US, and the UK.
Microsoft is also introducing a new Designer GPT for Copilot, described by the tech giant as providing “an immersive, dedicated canvas within Copilot where you can visualize your ideas.” Copilot Pro is a premium plan priced at $20 per month.
