Over the past few years, USB drives have undergone significant evolution. Initially priced as accessories a decade ago, they have become items that easily fill up your office bag in more recent years. The USB drive has had a long journey, and now, many of us rarely use it as we rely on cloud storage for backup and data transfer. However, there are still some scenarios where USB drives are useful, particularly when time is limited and deadlines loom. This is where the Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive Go USB-C aims to make a difference.
The 128GB Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive Go USB-C is a straightforward device featuring a USB port that swings into its cover. The USB-C port has gained significant power and is compatible with all Android phones as well as the latest iPhone 15 models. Additionally, since the USB-C is the sole port on the new MacBook, there is a chance that users like myself might begin using these drives more frequently.
I’ve been using the Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive Go USB-C for a couple of weeks now. Initially, I was in San Francisco to cover the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I had to upload approximately 10GB of videos I had recorded of the new devices to a transfer site to share with my team back in India. Although I could have done this directly from my phone, there was a risk of the transfer failing, especially when using unreliable hotel or cafe Wi-Fi. That’s why I opted to move the video files to the Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive Go and transfer them using my MacBook when I returned to my room.
For the iPhone, I had to choose the videos and paste them into the Sandisk folder displayed in the Files app. The transfer completed in less than two minutes, and the device was slightly warm afterward. It was quite convenient, and I could simply disconnect the drive and use it to upload the files for transfer.
A week later, I attended a family gathering where I extensively used the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to capture the enjoyable moments. This resulted in approximately 12GB of video files. As I wanted to preserve these files, I decided to store them on my MacBook. I connected the Sandisk Go to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, accessed the files, opened the external drive folder, created a new folder named “Family,” and pasted all the files into it. The entire process, including the transfer of the 22 files, took less than 3 minutes.
The Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive Go USB-C is an ideal tool for backing up all your crucial files and creating backups for files that do not need to be constantly stored on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been contemplating the evolution of USB drives. In the past, a 1GB USB drive used to be quite expensive, but now we have a 128GB USB-C drive that can connect to all your devices, whether they’re from the iOS, Android, Mac, or PC ecosystems.
